If you have ever been overlooked, misunderstood, judged, or wounded inside a religious space — this is for you. If you have ever sat in a pew and felt like you were performing a part instead of being known — this is for you. If you have ever suspected you were made for something more, but never found a place where that calling was recognized, developed, or released — this is especially for you.
You belong before you believe, you are welcomed before you are fixed, and you are sent before you are perfect.
Not a person who fits nowhere — a person made for somewhere the world hasn't built yet. Someone whose gifts, questions, calling, or identity never matched the mold they were handed — not because they're broken, but because they were made for a different picture. A gift the world hasn't learned to receive yet.
At The Church of the Misfits: family.
The world calls you a misfit when you don't slot into its mold — too much, too different, too questioning, too wounded, or gifted in ways no one asked for. But you were never broken. You were made for a different picture. Here, misfits aren't the exception. We're the family.
Religion is humanity striving to climb back into right standing with God. Relationship is what the whole story has been pointing to all along. God made each of us from a part of Himself — and He longs for His body, His bride, to operate as one.
Unity is not uniformity. We will not agree on everything — disagreement is simply what happens whenever two or more beings come together. What makes us one is not sameness of opinion but the law of love. We can differ and still be one body, still carry each other, still make it home together.
These are not fine print. They are the ground we stand on.
You belong before you believe or perform. No one is transformed by a room that makes them feel like a stranger.
Faith is a journey we walk together — one honest step at a time. No pretending we have arrived.
Wherever you were wounded, healing is welcome here. We don't rush it, shame it, or spiritualize past it.
Your gifts matter. A misfit is simply a gift the world hasn't learned to receive yet.
No one was meant to do this alone. Connection isn't a program — it's the point.
Broken circles become whole. Come as you are — and don't be surprised when you leave changed.
We dream of a community of believers who worship and uplift one another — no matter their background, ethnicity, or age. We are all part of one body, and the body has many gifts: like the parts of a person, each gift needs the others, and none of us reaches the promised land alone.
Heaven is a place of perfect unity — so we practice that unity here on earth, as God intended. We are Spirit-led, founded on biblical principle and the law of love, and we support each member three-fold — body, soul, and mind — carrying one another through every trial.
✦ A global, online-first movement — with in-person gatherings too
✦ A people-developing platform that releases gifts
✦ A force for outreach and real-world impact
✦ A 24/7 help center with multiple gathering places
✦ Always a sacred space — always the whole person
Belief is easy to claim — here's what you can actually expect from us.
Before we ever try to fix you.
Doubt is welcome at the table.
We help you grow them, never bury them.
We'll be honest, even when it's hard.
We carry each other through. Ever.
We keep the main thing the main thing.
I've known what it is to be called to more and have no place that could see it — to sit among believers and still feel like a misfit. The Church of the Misfits is the home I wished I'd had, built so that you'd never have to carry your calling, your questions, or your wounds alone.
Come as you are. There's room for you here.
— Joe! Mitchell, Founder
Come as you are — misfit and all. Bring your questions, your wounds, your gifts, and your doubts. You will not be fixed at the door. You will be welcomed through it.
